What both Thyme leaf & Hyssop have in common beyond clearing phlegm (mucus) & supporting the lungs is that they both have calming abilities. Both herbs have a history of being used for over-stimulation & nervousness, they bring a calmness to the nerves & mind which in turn helps with
de-stressing & getting a good night sleep.
Licorice not only adds a nice flavor but has anti-inflammatory properties and helps with coughs & chest complaints. It also helps with inflammation of
the digestive tract.
Mullein leaf is so marvelous when it comes to clearing congestion. Not only is it used for sinus, ear & bronchial problems but it works very well when breastfeeding woman who get mastitis (plugged breasts – in this case it’s best to drink mullein leaf as a tea with or without Violet leaves). Dried Mullein leaves can also be
smoked for lung complaints (I know, seems contraindicated).
Plantain leaf has a long history for all disorders of the respiratory organs; whooping cough, bronchial issues & lung problems. Plantain leaf’s powerful cleansing action helps clear debris out of the body's many systems & it's pulling action also helps clear sores on the outside of our body, bringing relief from our problems.
Young Plantain leaves can be used as a salad green in a wild salad mix.
